DETECTOR FOR DETECTING MALFUNCTION OF GAS-INSULATED ELECTRICAL APPARATUS

The detection chamber (7) is mounted on the outside of a container (1) comprising an electrical device and filled with an insulating gas (2). Chamber (7) and container (1) are separated by a layer (4) which is permeable to gas constituents but acts as a seal for gas not decomposed into gas constituents. Known means detect gas constituents entering the detection chamber, as a result of which the detector detects malfunctions of the electrical device. In the case of such a detector, it is therefore not necessary to introduce a substance relating to the detection into the container (1) containing the device; the device is therefore not subject to any positional restriction on the basis of the introduction of such substances and of high voltage. In addition, gas which has diffused into the detection chamber (7) can be easily and rapidly detected. A visual inspection or an appropriate measurement undertaken to detect the gas constituents can be made during the operation of the electrical device. During the operation, the interior of the detection chamber can be inspected by opening the chamber. The detector according to the invention is therefore notable for better efficiency. IMAGE
