The pipework connector consists of a socket (1) on one tube receiving the profiled end fitting (12) of the second tube. A locking ring (4) and bush (5) operate a ring of ball bearings (7) which lock the fitting (12) into the socket section (1). Fluid flows radially through the ports (1b) and (1c) with the joint rings (13) acting as valve seals. When the sliding bush is operated, the downstream tube (12a) is connected to the annular space between the socket (1) and the bush (4), the line is thus depressurised prior to complete disconnection.
