The equipment consists basically of a feed (1), a crusher (2) and continuous steel removal (3). Material not fed during the first operation, resulting from a size restriction, is directed to a secondary feed (5) and then a secondary crusher (6) and steel remover (7). After the second steel removal the materials are directed to a sieve which separates them into three categories, according to dimensions. These are 0 to 6mm, 6 to 20mm and over 20mm. After the second steel removal material is directed to a washing plant (11) to remove wood, plastics paper etc. Material over 20mm goes to a third crusher etc. (13).
