The invention relates to a method for the sequential control of a matrix imager using the effect of the transition from a cholesteric-nematic phase of a liquid crystal. This method consists in applying to the columns in a sequential manner. OF IMAGEUR ELECTRODES AN ERASING SIGNAL FOLLOWED BY AN ADDRESSING SIGNAL, THE LINES OF ELECTRODES OF SAID IMAGER BEING ADDRESSED IN PARALLEL, TO OBTAIN THE DISPLAYED OR DISPLAYED POSITION OF THE LIQUID CRYSTAL, AND TO APPLY SEQUENTIALLY ON THE LINES OF ELECTRODES A SIGNAL OF ADDRESSING, THE COLUMNS OF ELECTRODES BEING ADDRESSED IN PARALLEL, TO MAINTAIN THE STATE DISPLAYED OR NOT DISPLAYED OF THE LIQUID CRYSTAL BY SIGNIFICANTLY ENHANCING THE CONTRAST. / P
