PURPOSE:To prevent the soluble iron-component contained in a waste pickling soln. for iron and steel and to improve simultaneously the pH of the dust collecting water discharged from a non-combustion type installation for treating converter waste gas by mixing said waste pickling soln. and said dust collecting water so as to maintain a specific pH or above of basicity. CONSTITUTION:A waste pickling soln. for iron and steel contg. the soluble iron- component in which the form of Fe2+ and Fe3+, particularly Fe2+ comprises about 80% and the wet process dust collecting water of 12.6pH discharged from a non-combustion type installation for treating converter waste gas are mixed so as to maintain =9pH. The removal of the above-described soluble iron-component contained in the waste pickling soln. for iron and steel by precipitation and the improvement of pH of the above-described wet process dust collecting water (slurry) are thereby accomplished at one time. More specifically, the considerable reduction in the treatment cost including economization of the acid to be added for the purpose of adjusting the above-described wet process dust collecting water to the range within the specified effluent standard (5-9pH for the sea area and 5.8-8.6pH for the river area) are attained in the case of releasing said water to the public waters.
