PHTHALOCYANINE PREPARATIONS STABILIZED TO RECRYSTALLIZATION AND MODIFICATION TRANSITION

Phthalocyanine preparations stabilised against recrystallisation and change in modification, which preparations give colorations having good gloss, contain (a) a phthalocyanine as pigment and (b) 2 to 40% by weight, relative to (a) of a salt or a homogeneous mixture of ( alpha ), one or more phthalocyanine derivatives containing 2 to 5 IMAGE basic groups, in which R1 represents H, alkyl having 1 to 20 C atoms, phenyl, methyl-, methoxy-, ethoxy- or chlorine-substituted phenyl, -(C2H4-NH)zH or -(C3H6-NH)zH, R2 represents H, alkyl having 1 to 6 C atoms or cycloalkyl having 6 to 8 C atoms, and Z represents an integer between 1 and 3 and ( beta ) an aliphatic sulphonic acid having 1 to 20 C atoms, an aromatic sulphonic acid carrying one or two alkyls each having 1 to 20 C atoms and, if desired, a hydroxyl, a hydroxypropoxy or dihydroxypropoxy group as substituents, or mixtures thereof, the ratio of alpha ): beta ) being 1:1 to 1:5 mol, as stabilising agent. The preparation can also contain one or more organic liquids or solutions of resins in organic liquids. The pigment preparations produce colorations of high colour strength and clean hue in paints, coatings, printing inks and plastics.
