CROSSLINKING TREATMENT OF CHLORINATED POLYETHYLENE/ VINYL CHLORIDE GRAFT COPOLYMER

摘要

PURPOSE:To crosslink a chlorinated polyethylene/vinyl chloride graft copolymer by a simple method, by grafting a silane compound onto a copolymer and then contacting the resulting graft copolymer with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A chlorilinated polyethtlene/vinyl chloride graft copolymer is mixed with a silane compound (e.g., vinyltrimethoxysilane) and a free-radical generator (e.g., dicumyl peroxide), and the mixture is heated to graft the silane compound onto the above copolymer. This graft copolymer is crosslinked by contacting it with water in the presence of a silanol condensation catalyst (e.g., dibutyltin laurate).
