DRAWING OF SEA ISLAND TYPE CONJUGATED FILAMENT

PURPOSE:To prevent cracking, the contaimination of hot plate, and superdraw, by preheating a conjugated filament consisting of polystyrene-polyethylene terephthalate as a sea component-island component respectively under specific conditions, followed by drawing. CONSTITUTION:A styrene (co)polymer and ethylene terephthalate as polymerization units are used as a sea component and an island component respectively, and a sea island type conjugated filament having a weight ratio of island component 5- 25% is preheated by hot rolls at 70-110 deg.C, and drawn without intermission. The preheating removes the strain in the sea component, to give a drawn filament with stable strength and elongation, and shrinkage percentage.
