MACHINE FOR CUTTING AND WASHING ROOT VEGETABLE

PURPOSE:To cut efficiently a stem part and transfer a root vegetable easily to the next washing machine, by providing a top blade engaging groove of a given thickness in the peripheral part of the bottom blade, and placing the top and bottom blades in the meshing state. CONSTITUTION:The shaft 11 of the bottom blade 9 is connected through a chain 12 to a connected driving mechanism of a washing apparatus, and the bottom blade 9 is in the form of peripheral sawteeth (9-a) of a given thickness in the rough surface state having a top blade engaging groove 13 formed in the center thereof. The peripheral part of the top blade 8 is engaged with the top blade engaging groove 13, and the top and bottom blades 8 and 9 are rotated and operated in the partially overlapped state. The speed of the top blade 8 is increased from that of the shaft 11 of the bottom blade 9 and driven connectedly by the shaft 11 through a gear box 10, and the blades 8 and 9 bite easily into the stem part of a root vegetable with certainty. Thus, the stem part is forced into the gap between the top and bottom blades 8 and 9 and cut with certainty even on releasing operator's hold.
