PURPOSE:To provide an anaerobic atmosphere in an anaerobic glove box without using hydrogen and a palladium catalyst, by aplying an electrochemical disoxidizing apparatus to the anaerobic glove box. CONSTITUTION:A mixed gas of gaseous carbon dioxide with nitrogen gas is fed from a mixed gas cylinder 4 to an anteroom 2 to replace the air in the anteroom 2 and the glove box 1. A circulating pump 10 is then operated to circulate the gas in the anteroom 2 through the glove box 1, and a power source switch for an electrochemical disoxidizing apparatus 3 is turned on to apply a DC voltage across the cathode 5 and the anode 6. Oxygen is selectively consumed on the cathode 5, and air is freshly introduced from a reduced pressure compensation apparatus 11 on reduced pressure to keep ordinary pressure in the sytem including the anteroom 2 and the glove box 1.
