PURPOSE:To simplify considerably the operation for adjusting a rod for adjusting the decelerating position conforming to the thickness of dies determined from the displacement of a moving platen in the stage of exchanging the dies by calculating the adequate length of said rod and sliding the rod. CONSTITUTION:The displacement of a moving platen 3 with respect to a stationary plate 1 detected by the 1st linear scale sensor 20 upon completion of mating of upper and lower dies 5, 6 is converted to a die thickness H by the die thickness conversion circuit of a microcomputer 30. The output from said circuit is inputted to an arithmetic circuit for a rod length where the adequate effective length L1 of a rod 13 for adjusting the decelerating position conforming to the thickness H is calculated. On the other hand, the present effective length L2 of the rod 13 in the stage of mating the dies is detected by the 2nd linear scale sensor 23 and is preliminarily stored. The difference between the lengths L1 and L2, i.e., the extent of the movement of the rod 13 necessary for obtaining the length L1 is calculated by the arithmetic circuit. A servocontrol motor 33 is actuated by the operation of a data input device 25 and the effective length of the rod 13 is adjusted to attain the length L1.
