NOVEL QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUND, MANUFACTURE AND USE OF SAME AS ANTISEPTIC DRUG

Quaternary ammonium compounds of the formula IMAGE in which R1 and R2 are identical or different and represent an alkyl radical having 8 to 12 C atoms; R3 is an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 C atoms, and A- is an anion of a carboxylic acid from the group comprising acetic acid, propionic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, tartronic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, maleic acid and fumaric acid; furthermore x is an integer or fraction in the range from 1 to 2, and a process for their preparation are described. The compounds are suitable as disinfectants, in particular for those baths which are in contact with metallic items.
