PURPOSE:To easily perform the charge of coolant into a temperature-sensitive cylinder by connecting the temperature-sensitive cylinder of an expansion valve with the liquid side of the refrigerator, the controlling part of the expansion valve, and the exit pipe of an evaporator through a first, second, and third on-off-valves repectively. CONSTITUTION:When a compressor 1 is operated in a condition that a second on-off-valve V2 is closed, and a first and third on-off-valves Vi and V3 are opened, a portion of coolant flows into a timperatur-sensitive clyinder 8, due to the pressure differnce between the liquid side part in refrigeration cycle and the gas side part, and flows into an exit pipe 7 through an opened pipe 10. In this state, the first and the second on-off-valves Vi and V3 are closed, and the second on-off-valve V2 is opened, and the coolant having flowed into the temperature-sensitive clyinder is sealed so that gas-liquid mixed state is always maintained in the range of use of the refrigerator. Thus, a portion of coolant in refrigaration cycle can be charged in the temperature-sensitive cylinder 8, and super-heating degree control can be achived irrespective of the kind of refirigenation.
