Draining device for particulate solids having a bucket wheel (12) dipping into a water tank (4) and having buckets distributed over the circumference, in which water overflow channels (22) running transversely to the bucket wheel and having horizontally located overflow edges (34) are arranged in the water tank, which overflow edges lead with their ends facing away from the bucket wheel into collection channels (6) arranged on the sides of the water tank, the water overflow channels increasing in depth towards the collection channels. Arranged on the underside (24) of the water overflow channels (22) is at least one plate (30) which extends in the longitudinal direction and extends downwards from the underside of the overflow channel. A transversely located overflow weir (40) can be arranged in the water overflow channel (22) at least in the region of the downstream end, which weir extends upwards over a limited height from the floor of the water overflow channel, an opening (44) being provided upstream of this overflow weir in the floor (24) of the water overflow channel.
