The system records transmit and monitors the operational condition of railway wagons, esp. goods wagons which are not usually equipped with any form of electrical power but which may need to be continually checked for safe running. there are instruments to give warning of hot-running wheels, flattened sections, derailed axles etc, in each wagon in a train they are linked to an electronic evaluating circuit, where data are scanned for reading beyond the tolerance limits. This is connected to a UHF transmitter-receiver (13) signalling to a central station with optical and acoustic indicators (14) on the locomotive, if excessive readings occur. Each electronic evaluating circuit is connected to a mechanical indicator which marks the railway wagon and axle bearing (1) concerned. The whole electronic layout in a wagon is independently fed by alternating current generator (10) on board.
