Porous refractory inorganic oxide particles have an average bulk density of 0.25-0.4 g/cm3 and 0.6-0.8 cm3/g of the total pore vol. is connected with pores of average dia. is not 600 angstroms. The particles are used specifically as catalyst for reforming petrol or for the dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons.
