Controlled release of beta-adrenergic blockers and antiarrhythmics - using aryl- or aryloxy alkanolamine e.g. pindolol and fatty alcohol e.g. lauryl mono:sulphate anionic surfactant
Compsn. for controlled release of a pharmaceutical in the intestinal tract contains (a) an active substance chosen from arylalkanolamines and aryloxyalkanolamines pref. 4-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylaminopropoxy)-indole (I) or its salts and (b) an anionic surface-active agent chosen from higher fatty alcohol monosulphates. Admin. of cpds. used to treat circulatory and cardiac disorders such as beta-adrenergic receptor blockers and antiarrhythmic agents. The compsns. may also contain other active cpds. such as antihypentensives, diuretics e.g. 2-methyl-3-o-tolyl-6-sulphamoyl-7-chloro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4(3H)- -quinazolinone, alpha-blockers etc. The compsns. give improved absorption of the active substance.
