摘要
Lower alkanols (I) are detected in body fluids by contacting with a solid carrier containing a buffer, an enzyme which forms the corresponding aldehyde or a reduction product, a chromogen which reacts with this aldehyde or reduction product in the presence of a second or third agent to produce a colour change indicating the presence of (I). The composition may also contain an inhibitor competitive to the first enzyme and an aldehyde trapping agent. Pref. oxidising enzyme-oxidising agent include alcohol dehydrogenase and NAD. Pref. enzyme inhibitors include pyrazole, halopyrazole, alkylpyrazole or a steroid, Pref. chromogens include tetrazolium salt, 2,6-dichlorophenol, indophenol or methylene blue.
