Abstract of the Disclosure: Gravure printing plates whichare highly abrasion-resistant and scratch-resistant canbe produced rapidly and simply from a photosensitive re-cording material by exposing the latter through a photo-graphic positive, washing out the unexposed areas anddrying the resulting gravure printing plate, if thephotosensitive recording material employed, which comprisesa photopolymerizable and/or photocrosslinkable layer (L)applied to a dimensionally stable base, contains finelydivided, hard, abrasive particles in the layer (L), thesurface of this layer, which subsequently constitutes thesurface of the printing plate, has a peak-to-valley heightof Z µm, and the materials of this layer are chosen sothat, after exposure and development, it has a Vickershardness of not less than 10 N/mm2, measured under load.
