Abstract of the DisclosureA composition for developing latent electrostaticimages comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon carrier liquidhaving dispersed therethrough charged pigmented toner par-ticles having a low charge to mass ratio. The compositionhas an amount of spacer particles having their smallestdiameter greater than twenty microns and greatest diameterless than seventy microns disseminated therethrough. Thespacer particles are adapted to form an air gap betweenthe developed electrostatic image on a photoconductor, ordielectric support, and the medium to which the developedimage is to be transferred. The population of the spacerparticles is such that their interparticle distance on thephotoconductor is four millimeters or less. The spacerparticles may be formed of any desired material, insolublein the carrier liquid, and have any desired shape. A tetra-hedral pyramidal shape or spherical shape is preferred.
