CO-COKING SHALE OIL AND PETROLEUM RESIDUAL

Greater than expected amounts of liquid products are produced by a coking operation in which the feed is composed of a mixture of petroleum residua and shale oil residua. The yield of liquid products is further enhanced by including in the feed a hydrogen catalyst. The yield of liquid products, is still further enhanced by using a hydrocracking catalyst as the hydrogen catalyst and supplying hydrogen to the coking operation.. Typical hydrocracking catalysts are NiMo, CoMo, NiW and CoW, which may include an alumina support.
