A method of reducing the moisture content of stock piled sand or like granular material comprises arranging a wellpoint drainage tube (5) in a convoluted pattern below the base of the stock pile, and coupling the drainage tube to a suction pump (1) whereby liquid is withdrawn from the base of the stock pile.
