Trace-labeled conjugates of methallothionein and targetseeking biologically active molecules are prepd. Thus, 0.5 mg thionein dissolved in 1 ml 0.1 N-HCl was treated with 0.76 mCi 203 HgCl2. This soln. was neutralized by 0.5 M-Tris amino-methane. The resulting soln. of 203 Hg-MT was eluted through 1 - 60 Gel column contg. 0.025M phosphate buffer at the rate of 2.0 ml/min to give 98% 203 Hg-MT. The trace label metal may be radioactive to give products for diagnostic use, esp. for kidney imaging when technitium 99m is used, or for therapeutic use.
