Novel quaternary phosphonium salts and their use as microbicidal agents

Novel phosphonium salts of the formula I IMAGE in which R denotes (subst.) phenyl, (subst.) alkyl, (subst.) dibenzofuranyl or (subst.) dibenzofuranyl or (subst.) dibenzothienyl or (subst.) naphthyl, R1 denotes H, (subst.) (C1-C4)-alkyl or (subst.)phenyl, R2 denotes H,(C1-C4)-alkyl, (subst.) phenyl, thienyl or furanyl, R3 denotes (subst.) phenyl or (C2-C12)-alkyl and X denotes halide, acetate, (C1-C4)-alkylphosphite or phenyl-phosphite, with the proviso that if R and R3 = phenyl and R1 and R2 = H, X must not be iodide or bromide, and if R1, R2 and R3 = phenyl and R1= H, X must not be bromide, have advantageous wide-acting microbicidal properties.
