The invention describes an adaptor by which a water outlet fitting of circular connection cross-section, for example an aerator, can be connected to a water outlet of a non-standard, in particular an oval, connection cross-section. In a first embodiment, the adaptor comprises two sleeves which are fitted one into the other and are displaceable against each other along a surface running obliquely with respect to the centre axis. If the inner sleeve is displaced against the outer clamping sleeve, the latter moves outwards and pushes firmly against the inside wall of the water outlet, so that a mechanically stable and tight connection is created.
