Filling material for brown coal open cast mining pits

Use of a mixture of, on the one hand, the desulphurisation sludge from a wet flue gas desulphurisation plant operating with lime suspension arranged downstream of a power station and, on the other hand, the fly ash from an assigned electrostatic precipitation unit, as environmentally friendly filling material, which can be stored in land fill without further processing, for brown coal open cast mining pits. The desulphurisation sludge is discharged from a desulphurisation plant which operates downstream of a brown coal-fired power station at a scrubber temperature of about 70 DEG C. This desulphurisation sludge is brought to at least spadable consistency by the quantity of admixed fly ash.
