Method for the production of homocaryons from di- or heterocaryotic strains of Basidiomycetes

The invention relates to the breeding and patenting of novel varieties of edible fungi (Basidiomycetes) with the aid of homocaryons which have not been obtained by single-spore selection and pairing of single-spore mycelia. Rather, the heterocaryons are tested for outstanding growing qualities, and the best strains are homocaryotised by means of glycine-N-glucoside, salts thereof, or N-acetylglucosamine. The resulting homocaryons are combined with compatible partners to give novel strains. Since the characteristics of the homocaryons which are used as components are known, they can be used in addition to those of the heterocaryon to describe the variety or identify the strain (see P 2813521).
