The machine comprises two deformable parallelogram linkages and crank discs fitted with gripping fingers. Two vertical conveyor belts remove the cut lavender towards a hopper mouted on the tractor pulling the machine. The parallelogram arrangements maintain guide plates parallel to the ground and include height adjustment. The plates form part of jaws operated by the crank discs and which close around the stems of the plants. These are lifted into a vertical position and held for cutting between the head and the ground. The combined closing, lifting, cutting and release action is automatic.
