The counter or chip is used in parlour games, e.g. word composition games, which are played on a chequered board or a board which is subdivided into squares, being fabricated from transparent material. Identifying symbols or numbers may be glued or engraved on the underside, being visible from above. The chip comprises a square-transparent tablet with a letter glued to the underside. Chips amy be wholly or partially transparent, the latter zones having alternative geometric shapes e.g. triangular, rectangular, circular etc..
