In order to separate the legs 30-31 of tights 1, in particular of significant length, and to thus permit the rapid elastic grasping thereof by an element whose teeth can be separated which transfers the tights from a machine for seamed tights 3 to a machine for stitching the gussets, two sucking pipes 132-133, which are vertical and aligned, are used, the lower pipe 133 being stationary and the upper pipe 132 being movable in a telescopic fashion, the latter being associated with two corresponding blowing probes 134-135, which favour the legs 30-31 leaving the corresponding pipes 132-133 as soon as the elastic grasping of the tights is carried out by the element whose teeth can be separated.
