A means for automatically protecting a working mine combine on inclined workings

A mining machine operated on inclined mine workings in prevented from freely rolling down a wall in the case of the breakage of the haulage chain by a ratchet brake 9. A sensor 5 is connected to the brake 9, the latter cooperating with protective chain 2 anchored in an upper roller block. Sensor 5, preferably mounted at the middle between rollers of the tractor of the coal mining combine and guide of haulage chain 1, continuously presses against the links of haulage chain 1 whose breakage causes the sag to be increased and, thus, sensor 5 and ratchet 9 are lowered. The free end of ratchet 9 engages the nearest horizontal link of protective chain 2 and automatically stops the movement of the coal mining machine down the wall. IMAGE
