Described are mixtures consisting of:PP(a) at least one C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 in alkanoic acid defined according to the structure: ##STR1## (wherein n represents an even integer of 2, 4, 6 or 8) ; and (b) the ethyl ester of 2-hydroxy-4-methyl pentanoic acid having the structure: ##STR2## which mixtures are useful for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of "tropical" fruit flavored foodstuffs.
