Use of essential fatty acids mixture containing eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester (EPA-EE) and/or docosahexaenoic acid ethyl ester (DHA-EE) in the manufacture of a medicament for preventing mortality in a patient who has suffered from a myocardial infarction, where the content in EPA-EE + DHA-EE in such mixture is greater than 25 % by weight, and the medicament is for oral administration.
