APPARATUS FOR CONVERTING LOW-QUALITY COAL TO HIGH-QUALITY COAL

PURPOSE:To convert a low-quality coal into a high-quality coal by supplying a carbonized coal to a tra-sticking equipment at the small-diameter screw having a ribbon-like shape and supplying it together with a tar-containing gas to a specific large-diameter screw to stably stick the tar to the carbonized coal with high efficiency. CONSTITUTION:The apparatus of the present invention is constructed as follows. A low-quality coal A is dried in a dryer 10 to remove water B. The resulting dry coal C is supplied to a carbonizing apparatus 20 and carbonized therein. The resulting carbonized coal D is trans ferred to a tar-sticking apparatus 30 together with a tar E which has been generated during the carbonization to stick the tar on the carbonized coal D, thereby obtaining a modified coal F. The coal D is supplied to a small-diameter screw 32 having a ribbon-like shape from a feed opening 31 of the tar-sticking apparatus 30. The carbonized coal D is then supplied to a large-diameter screw 35 together with a gas G containing the tar E from a feed opening 33. The contents of the large diameter screw portion 35 are cooled by means of a cooling jacket 38 of a screw feeder 36, flow channel 42a, 42b for cooling of a screw axis 41 and a fin provided on the outer periphery of the screw axis 41 to prevent the shortcut of the gas G and is transferred with the sticking of the tar E on the carbonized coal D to obtain a modified coal F. The modified coal F is taken out of the discharge port 34 while the residual gas G is discharged from a discharge port 37.
