METHOD FOR PREVENTING MEANDERING OF TAIL-END OF ROLLING STRIP IN HOT CONTINUOUS ROLLING

PURPOSE:To prevent the meandering of the tail end of a rolling steel strip at the time when it passes a front stand, and to improve the operating efficiency in rolling and the quality of product, by continuously measuring the thrust of work rolls of the front stand, and estimating the meandering direction of tail end at the time when the tail end passes the front stand to correct the partial rolling reduction of a rear stand. CONSTITUTION:A thrust caused by upper and lower work rolls 2 is measured by load cells 8 provided to the rolls 2 of a front stand F3 while a rolling strip 1 is restricted by the front and rear stands F3, F4. The measured values are inputted to an operator 9, to estimate the meandering direction due to the thrust as well as to operate the correcting amount of the partial rolling reduction of rear stand F4 used for correcting the meandering caused by the thrust. In succession, the partial rolling reduction is corrected by driving the rolling- reduction device 10 of rear stand F4 to control the thrust of work rolls 2 of the front stand F3 so as to make it to be zero.
