COSMETIC CONTAINING EPSILON-POLYLYSINE AND HYDROCHLORIDE THEREOF AS PRESERVATIVE AND GERMICIDE INCORPORATED THEREIN

PURPOSE:A cosmetic, obtained by using epsilon-polylysine separated and purified from a product of a specific strain as a preservative and germicide, and having improved safety for the skin and stability with time and solubility in an aqueous cosmetic. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic obtained by incorporating epsilon-polylysine, expressed by the formula (n is 25-30), and separated and purified from a product of Streptomyces albulus No.346 strain by the well-known method and a hydrochloride thereof as a preservative for preventing deterioration of the cosmetic and further as a germicide for sterilizing and disinfecting the skin surface and improving pimple, heat rash, score, dandruff, itching, body odor, etc. in an amount of preferably 5.0-0.01wt% in the cosmetic. The above-mentioned compound is a water-soluble germicide and preservative having high safety for the skin and improved effect which cannot be found in the conventional germicides and preservatives, stable with time even on incorporating in a cosmetic, and capable of giving the above-mentioned effect and feeling, styling, flexibility, etc., to the hair by addition to a rinse, etc.
