The samples of glass, porcelain or ceramics etc are placed almost vertically in the support so that they are put into the kiln in a rational way. The support has between three and seven sample replacements, pref five, and its weight is about 300g. There is a ten per cent contraction due to drying and firing. The support is made by fashioning or by casting a refractory ceramic paste in a plaster mould.
