The bottle (1) or can containing a beverage is provided with a (plastics) drinking straw which is held (5) below the closure cap or can top such that it extends almost or completely to the bottom and can be partly extracted or emerges when the cap or top is removed. This allows the contents to be completely consumed. - The straw may have a bendable upper portion (6) and may be held in position by the closed cap top e.g. in bent form such that it emerges when it straightens itself out as the can is opened.
