A range of inputs are accepted with the data from them, then processed. A keyboard allows manual entry of data e.g. brake type, tyre size, and communication with the system. A radar device measures the distance to the vehicle immediately ahead. A speed measurement is performed, whilst the moisture on the road is measured from the tyre spray. - A road slope computation is performed with a transducer measuring the vehicle weight and a photometric cell measuring the - light level. The computer uses the data to compute the min. safe separation from the vehicle ahead.
