The curved plate is connected to other plates to form a complete ring making part of a lining. It is cast and made of spheroidal graphite cast iron. It is carried by a layer of concrete which may be reinforced. Each plate (1) incorporates hollow projections (3) forming recesses accessible from the inside or concave face, so that bolts can be fitted through holes in their sides, connecting them together. - These plates also have tongues and grooves (5,6) at their other edges, so that successive rings interlock with each other. The outside surface carries a pattern of ribs (2) to prevent buckling and the edges are reinforced.
