There are disclosed antitumor active 1,2-diphenyl-ethylenediamine)-platinum(II)-complex of the general formula IMAGE I wherein R7 is hydrogen or C1-C6-alkyl and R2 is either (1) a halogen atom and the groups R1, R3, R4, R5, and R6 are the same or different and are hydrogen, halogen, trihalomethyl, C1-C6-alkyl, hydrogen C1-C6-alkoxy, a C2-C6-alkanoyloxy or a halo or C1-C4-alkanesulfonyloxy substituted C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group, or R2 is (2) a hydroxy group, a C1-C6-alkoxy group, a C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group in the 4-position or a halo or C1-C4-alkanesulfonyloxy substituted C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group and if R2 is (2) then the groups R1 and R3 which are the same or differnt are in the 2 and 6 positions of the phenyl group and are halogen, trihalomethyl, C1-C6-alkyl, hydroxy, a C1-C6-alkoxy, C2-C6-alklanoyloxy group or a halo or C1-C5-alkanesulfonyloxy substituted C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group, with the proviso that R1 can also be hydrogen and the groups R4, R5, and R6 are the same or different and are hydrogen, halogen, trihalomethyl, C1-C6-alkyl, hydroxy, C1-C6-alkoxy, a C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group or a halo or C1-C4-alkanesulfonyloxy substituted C2-C6-alkanoyloxy group and X is the equivalent of a physiologically compatible anion and process of their production.
