Process for the treatment of water containing microscopic particles in suspension with a view to the separation of the said particles. According to the invention, in order to cause the flocculation of the said particles prior to the separation process or in the course of the latter, the residual sludge originating from the treatment of waste water or the like is added to the said suspension.
