Hydrocarbon thermal cracking plant - with reactor and quencher tubes coated with silicone resin contg. carbide(s) or nitride(s)

In an installation for thermal cracking of a hydrocarbon feed to alkenes, comprising a furnace with externally heated reactor coils and, attached to the furnace, a quench cooler heat exchanger for quenching the effluent, in which steam is developed in the jacket, the surface of the coils and/or the heat exchanger tubes which come into contact with the process gases is coated with an impermeable layer of a silicone resin with SiC, B6C, Ti carbide, Si nitride and/or BN. The thickness of the coating layer is 10-100 microns. The layer of 50-70 wt.% silicone resin and 50-30% of carbides and/or nitrides. The resin pref. contains Me and phenyl gps. The layer contains a mixt. of 2 nitrides and/or carbides in ratio by vol. of 40:60-60:40. A lacquer for forming the layer contains 50-70 wt.% of silicone resin and 50-30% of SiC, B6C, Ti carbide, Si nitride and/or BN and a solvent for the resin.
