Dredger derricking speed compensation equipment - uses suction head speed variation to regulate derricking winch speed with gyroscope and acceleration detectors

The equipment compensates for speed variations when derricking a suction dredger cutter head. This is mounted on a boom to which winches are attached. A gyroscope and acceleration detectors (20,21) are provided to detect the momentary speed variation of the head (19) when derricking from the desired value. The discrepancy in values are used as a control signal for the derricking winches (11,12). Where the winches are driven by hydraulic motors, the control signal can be fed to them via a servo motor, on the hydraulic pump, which drives it.
