Binding sulphur oxide(s) formed in fuel combustion - by introducing calcite granules into hearth of fluidised bed combustion furnace

Oxides of sulphur resulting from combustion of sulphur-contg. fuels in a fluidised bed installation are bound by introducing into the hearth of the furnace an additive which serves as acceptor for the oxides of sulphur formed, consisting of calcite granules obtd. by crystallisation from an aq. soln. of Ca(++) and HCO3(-) ions.
