The invention concerns a method for the dehumidification of a foundation of an existing building damaged by moisture with its foundation plate on the ground. Near to the place where the top of a foundation plate presents maximum relative humidity (RF), a hole is made in the plate and a cavity below the foundation plate. The cavity is filled with burned balls of clay or other non-rotting material with a great degree of air permeability. Then controlled dry air is circulated through the cavity whereupon the ground surrounding the foundation plate and cavity is dehumidified. In cases where mats are laid directly on the foundation plate, under floor slabs with a minimal building height are used that are constructed of bottom part designed so that air can circulate underneath and an upper section of fibre board.IMAGE
