Numeric satellite telephone exchange for rural subscribers

The satellite telephone exchange uses numeric techniques connected into a class-five exchange. The satellite provides rural subscribers with the same facilities as those of a central exchange. It has a numeric inter-urban system connected into a network operating in response to parallel data groups and providing at intervals two series data fields such that individual lines can be identified and their state determined. Operation of a subscriber terminal (11) is detected in a processing unit (30). Its identity is then transmitted as a connection demand to the subscriber interconnection control circuits (50) using a 4kHz signal and transmitted by the inter-urban numeric circuit (40). A mono to bipolar converter (60) connects the data (T1) and 4kHz lines, i.e. interfacing the satellite monopolar form with the transmitted bipolar form.
