The satellite telephone exchange system is arranged to avoid a subscriber bell ringing when a connection is cleared from the satellite exchange itself or from the selection switch associated with a shared-service line. Individual subscribers and the selection switches of party lines are connected to the satellite exchange selectors, which are in turn connected via main lines to the selectors leading to the exchange. Before the ac generator (G,Tr) that initiates clearing is connected, each main line (HL) is connected to a discharge resistor (R3) for a time sufficient to ensure that the subscriber (Tn) bell-ringing capacitor is discharged.
