A S-vulcanisable compsn. to be bonded to a metal surface during vulcanisation contains 0.1-2 (0.2-1) pts.wt. Ni for 100 pts.wt. rubber, the Ni being present as Ni(II) acetylacetonate. The compsn. pref. contains diene rubber(s), esp. natural rubber, SB rubber, polybutadiene and/or polyisoprene. - The compsn. is used for the prodn. of tyres (pref. heavy duty tyres), conveyor belts and the like. It does not have the drawbacks of prior art comosns. e.g. use of organometallic cpds. of complex formulae and lengthy prepn., inadequate adhesion to metals at room temp. of after heat ageing, excessive loss of hysteresis etc.. DEAB- DE3209581 C Compsns. contain at least 1 known elastomer vulcanisable by S and also per 100 pts.wt. elastomer (a) 0.1-2, pref. 0.2-1 pts.wt. Ni in the form of Ni (2) acetylacetonate and pref. also (b) 3-80, pref. 5-15 pts.wt. ZnO (c) 1-10, pref. 3-7 pts.wt. S and (d) 0.1-3, pref. 0.2-1 pts.wt. stearic acid. - The elastomer is a diene elastomer, esp. a natural elasomer, a styrene/butadiene copolymer, polybutadiene and/or polyisoprene. The compsns. are esp. used to produce metal/elastomer mouldings with metals having a surface of Zn, Cu, brass or steel.
