Rubber compsn. contains particles of high hardness dispersed in rubber. The particles have a coating of rubber. Also claimed is the prepn. of the above compsn. involving coating the particles and dispersing in the rubber. The particles are of ceramic, hardened polymer or metal of Vickers hardness (HV) above 20, and are pref. of silica, SiO2 or Al2O3. The size is 20-80 mesh. The coating thickness is smaller than the dia. of the particles and the coating contains an adhesive, polymer for an adhesive or a resin. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for the mfr. of tyre treads or shoe soles. The compsns. have high friction on ice and high abrasion resistance.
